BMW 8 Series E31 | The V12 GT Too Advanced for Its Time

The BMW 8 Series E31 was one of the most advanced cars of the 1990s with its V12 engine. Launched in 1989, this flagship grand tourer introduced technologies years ahead of its time, including drive-by-wire throttle, multi-link rear suspension, and full CAD-based development. The lineup included four key models: the V8-powered 840Ci, the V12 850i and 850Ci, and the range-topping 850CSi — a 380 HP, BMW M-developed machine often considered the closest thing to a true M8. Despite its futuristic design, the E31 struggled due to high cost, complexity, and poor timing during a global recession. BMW sold just over 30,000 units, and even cancelled a full M8 version before production. #bmw #bmw8series #bmw850 SUBSCRIBE TO CHANNEL: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6IKxew0eG8FQWl89nCv-3A?sub_confirmation=1 CONTRIBUTE WITH A LITTLE MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION TO ACCESS ALL BENEFITS: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6IKxew0eG8FQWl89nCv-3A/join FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA: Facebook | https://ift.tt/NPCvw9j Instagram | https://ift.tt/TGin5ce Pinterest | https://ift.tt/lX7sK3A Reddit | https://ift.tt/vPoeqVG X/Twitter | https://www.twitter.com/MotorSpexx Threads | https://ift.tt/RsTchpQ Tumblr | https://ift.tt/y6T5mlY Blog | https://ift.tt/V3AQSmX
