The chassis features a MacPherson strut front axle and a multi-link rear axle.  The ride height is lowered by 15 mm compared to the standard GTI. The vehicle includes adaptive DCC suspension and progressive steering. 

The front differential lock is optimized for better traction and cornering performance. The optional GTI Performance package further enhances the dynamic capabilities of the Edition 50. 

This includes a suspension lowered by an additional 5 mm, resulting in a total reduction of 20 mm. Spring rates are increased by approximately 20 percent. The package also features 235 mm wide Bridgestone Potenza Race semi-slick tires mounted on 19-inch forged Warmenau wheels. 

Each tire saves approximately 1.1 kg, and each wheel saves approximately 3 kg compared to standard components. In addition, the Akrapovič titanium exhaust system reduces weight by 11 kg and contributes to better exhaust flow. 

Combined, the Performance package reduces total weight by approximately 30 kg, lowering unsprung and rotating mass to improve responsiveness and handling precision.

The interior of the Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 maintains a functional and performance-oriented layout. It features premium sport seats with perforated black leather and red accents, along with "GTI" lettering and Edition 50 badging. 

The digital cockpit and infotainment system are updated with GTI-specific graphics. Additional interior details include stainless steel pedals, a multifunction sport steering wheel with red stitching, and a black headliner for a focused driving environment.

This is the 2025 Volkswagen Golf R. It is the top performance variant in the Golf range and is based on the MQB Evo platform. 

Power comes from a 2.0 litre turbocharged inline 4 cylinder engine with direct injection. Maximum output is 235 kilowatts. Torque is 380 newton metres with the 6 speed manual gearbox. 

With the 7 speed DSG dual clutch automatic torque increases to 400 newton metres. Power is delivered to all four wheels using the 4Motion all wheel drive system

This setup includes rear axle torque vectoring capable of directing torque independently between the rear wheels. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour takes 4.5 seconds. 

Top speed is limited to 250 kilometres per hour. With the optional R Performance Package top speed increases to 267 kilometres per hour. 

Transmission options include a 6 speed manual and a 7 speed DSG automatic. Both gearboxes are mounted in a front transverse layout. 

Suspension is fully independent with adaptive damping at all four corners. Drivers can choose between Comfort Sport Race and Individual drive modes. Dampers adjust in real time based on the selected mode and road conditions. 

The braking system includes ventilated discs measuring 345 millimetres at the front and 310 millimetres at the rear. Front calipers are dual piston.
