The Honda Civic Type R Ultimate Edition marks the final appearance of the Type R in the European market. Limited to just 40 units, this model is based on the latest FL5 generation and focuses on refining performance and engineering precision.
Under the hood is a 2.0-litre turbocharged VTEC engine, producing 329 PS at 6,500 rpm and 420 Nm of torque between 2,200 and 4,000 rpm. These figures make it the most powerful VTEC turbo engine Honda has produced for a Type R.
Performance figures are notable: zero to 100 kilometers per hour is achieved in 5.4 seconds, and the top speed is electronically limited to 275 kilometers per hour. The power is transmitted via a six-speed manual gearbox, featuring a revised rev-match system and a lighter flywheel, enhancing responsiveness during downshifts.
The chassis is reinforced for improved structural rigidity, with a 15 percent increase over the previous generation. Lightweight materials are used throughout, including an aluminum hood that is 43 percent lighter and a resin tailgate that reduces weight by 20 percent.
Visually, the Ultimate Edition features Championship White paintwork, gloss black roof, carbon-fiber rear wing and trim, and red graphic accents. These elements are not only aesthetic but also serve aerodynamic and cooling functions.
The suspension system is tuned for track performance, paired with 19-inch matte black forged alloy wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Braking is handled by upgraded Brembo calipers and two-piece discs, optimized for heat dissipation and fade resistance under heavy load.
Inside, the vehicle includes suede-trimmed Recaro seats, red accents, and serialized plaques identifying the limited-edition status. The Honda LogR system is integrated into the infotainment display, providing performance metrics such as g-force, tire friction, and lap times. This system can be connected to a smartphone for post-drive analysis.
Although the Ultimate Edition is not specifically engineered to break lap records, it benefits from the same development philosophy that delivered the front-wheel-drive record lap at Suzuka. It represents the most complete and track-focused Type R offered to European customers.
With production capped at 40 units, the Civic Type R Ultimate Edition is a final, technically refined entry in Honda’s high-performance lineup for the region.
